Airport parking is one of the first things many travelers have to sort before a flight — if you're driving to the airport, where and how do you leave your car safely and cheaply? This guide explains the options at Tbilisi and Kutaisi airports, what parking costs and how to save money on long stays.
🅿️ Tbilisi Airport parking (TBS)
Tbilisi International Airport has both multi-level and open-air car parks in front of the terminal. The short-term zone sits closest to the terminal and is meant for dropping off or picking up a passenger; the long-term zone is slightly further out and is cheaper for daily stays.
The first 10-15 minutes are usually free — just enough to drop someone off. After that the tariff is charged per hour or per day. The airport's infrastructure and terminal are covered in detail in the Tbilisi Airport guide.
If you're only picking someone up, stay within the free window — don't enter the paid car park too early. If the flight is delayed, wait in the designated waiting area rather than blocking the terminal frontage.
🅿️ Kutaisi Airport parking (KUT)
Kutaisi David the Builder Airport is Wizz Air's low-cost hub, so travelers often drive there from all over Georgia. The airport has an open-air car park in front of the terminal, where the first minutes are free and a daily tariff applies afterward.
Because many travelers leave their car in Kutaisi for 3-5 days or longer (for short European getaways), work out the long-term rate in advance. For flights and routes from Kutaisi, see the Kutaisi Airport guide.
💰 What it costs and how to save
- Short-term: first minutes free, then an hourly rate — use it only for drop-off and pick-up
- Long-term: the daily rate is far cheaper than hourly if you leave the car for 2+ days
- Alternative: a taxi or Bolt to the airport is often cheaper than 5-7 days of parking
- Travelling with family or friends? Share one car and split the parking cost
- Check the current tariffs on the airport's official website — they change periodically
For a long trip, an airport transfer is often cheaper and simpler than leaving your car for a week — calculate both options.
🔒 Safety and practical tips
The airports' official car parks are secured and under video surveillance, so leaving a car for a long time is safe. Even so, don't leave valuables in the cabin and take your documents with you.
Note or photograph your parking spot (level and row) — after a long trip, especially with jet lag, it's easy to forget. Keep your ticket or receipt; at some car parks you pay on exit. Add all of these details to your pre-flight checklist.
🚗 When you need the car at your destination
If you need a car not in Tbilisi but at your destination, leaving your own car at the airport makes more sense than driving it there. For the rules and tips on renting a car on arrival, see the renting a car abroad guide.
Search flights, compare dates and find the cheapest day on the Travel365 price calendar. A well-chosen date often saves you more than the parking costs in the first place.
In peak season (summer, holidays) the airport car park can fill up. If you're planning a long stay, arrive early or reserve a spot in advance where that's possible.
