One of the most common questions before a trip — "when should I buy my ticket for the cheapest price?" There's no single answer, but data shows clear patterns.
Optimal booking window
Research shows that the best time to book domestic flights is 2–3 months ahead, and for international flights, 3–4 months ahead. See more tips for finding cheap tickets.
Booking very early (6+ months) is often more expensive because airlines slowly adjust prices based on demand.
Which day of the week to buy
A common piece of advice is Tuesday or Wednesday. This is partially true: airlines often update prices at the end of the week, with the response becoming visible mid-week.
Try mornings instead of evenings — tickets are often cheaper in the morning.
Which day to fly
Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday — the cheapest days to fly. Friday and Sunday — the most expensive (business travelers + weekend returns).
Seasonality
- High season (expensive): June–August, New Year period
- Mid season: September, October, April, May
- Low season (cheap): January–March, November
