A mobile boarding pass has become the standard for modern air travel β a digital version of your boarding pass stored right in your phone's wallet (Apple Wallet or Google Wallet) that works by scanning a QR code at the gate, even without an internet connection. Unlike a plain screenshot, a card saved in your wallet updates itself automatically β a gate change or a delay shows up right on your lock screen.
π± How to add it to Apple Wallet
After finishing online check-in on an iPhone, the airline's app or website usually offers an "Add to Apple Wallet" button. If it doesn't appear, opening the boarding pass PDF in Safari will often surface the wallet version automatically.
- Complete check-in in the airline's app or website
- Tap "Add to Apple Wallet" on the boarding pass screen
- The pass appears on your lock screen automatically once you're at the airport (Location Services must be on)
- If the gate or time changes, the wallet card updates itself

After check-in, look for an "Add to Google Wallet" button in the airline's confirmation email or app. If the airline doesn't offer direct integration, Google will often prompt you to add it straight from the boarding pass email in Gmail.
