Copenhagen Airport (CPH, Kastrup) is only ~8 km southeast of the city center — one of Europe's most efficient airports. The Metro M2 runs straight from the terminal into the center in about 15 minutes, while a DSB train reaches Central Station. The options are simple and cheap, even on a late-night arrival, because the metro runs 24 hours.

- Metro M2 → Kongens Nytorv / Nørreport: 13-15 min, ~$5 (36 DKK)
- DSB train → København H (Central Station): 13 min, ~$5
- Öresundståg → Malmö (Sweden): ~35 min (ID/passport required)
- Bus 5C → center: ~30-40 min, ~$5
- Taxi → center: 20 min, ~$36-50 (250-350 DKK)
🚇 Metro M2 — the most convenient
The M2 (yellow line) station 'Lufthavnen' is right by Terminal 3. The train is driverless and automatic, running every 4-6 minutes (less often but still 24/7 at night). It's ~14 minutes to Kongens Nytorv and ~15 to Nørreport.
The ticket — 3 zones, ~$5 (36 DKK). Buy it from a machine or the DOT Tickets / DSB app; a Rejsekort card works too. Grab a ticket at the terminal machines as soon as you land.
A single 3-zone ticket covers both the metro and the train — the choice depends on your route. For Kongens Nytorv take the metro; for Central Station the train is better.
🚆 DSB train — straight to Central Station
If your hotel is near København H (Central Station) or Tivoli, the DSB train is better — the platform is beneath Terminal 3, trains run every 10 minutes and it's 13 minutes to Central Station.
The fare is identical to the metro (3 zones, ~$5). The same train continues over the Øresund bridge to Malmö in Sweden — but there you'll need ID/passport and there's a border check.
🚖 Taxi — comfort
Official taxis wait right outside the arrivals terminal, on the meter. From CPH to the center it's ~250-350 DKK (~$36-50), 20 minutes. Uber doesn't operate in Denmark — use an official taxi or the Dantaxi / Taxa 4x35 apps.
Denmark is an expensive country and taxis especially so — even for two, the metro or train is far cheaper. A taxi wins only if you have a lot of luggage or arrive very late at night.

- The metro runs 24/7 — a late-night arrival is no problem
- Contactless card payment is everywhere — you rarely need cash DKK
- The center is compact and bike-friendly — many distances are walkable
- Get an eSIM in advance — handy for tickets and maps
- Keep your 3-zone ticket — it also covers getting around the center the same day
