Marseille Airport (Marseille Provence, MRS) sits about 28 km northwest of the city center, near Marignane. The most popular way into town is the direct navette bus to Saint-Charles station; the cheapest is the TER train; the most comfortable is a taxi or Uber. Late-night options thin out, so plan ahead.

🚐 The navette — direct bus
The L91 navette is the official airport bus, running straight to Marseille Saint-Charles, the main station where the metro, tram and TGV trains all meet. Buses run every 15-20 minutes, roughly from 04:10 to 00:40.
Buy a ticket from the machine at the bus stop or from the driver; online is slightly cheaper. From Saint-Charles the center (Vieux-Port) is two stops on metro M1.
If you're traveling light and watching your budget, the TER train beats even the navette — but for anyone with luggage, the L91 straight to the center is simpler.
🚆 The TER train — the budget option
The cheapest option is the TER regional train. A free shuttle bus takes you from the airport to Vitrolles Aéroport Marseille Provence station in 5 minutes, and from there a TER train reaches Saint-Charles in 15 minutes. About $7 (€6-7) in total.
The train runs every 30 minutes during the day and rarely at night. Buy a ticket from the station machine or the SNCF Connect app.
🚖 Taxi and Uber/Bolt
An official taxi from the airport to the center costs about $55-65 (30-40 min, more in traffic). Fares are regulated, though night and Sunday/holiday rates are slightly higher. Uber and Bolt operate in Marseille — often cheaper than a taxi (~$40-55), with the price fixed in advance.
Only get into an official white taxi with a meter. Avoid anyone offering a 'private' transfer inside the terminal — their price is often double.
💡 Tips
- Saint-Charles station is the metro, tram and TGV hub — from there you can reach all of Marseille easily
- Pay by card — the euro (EUR) is used, so no separate currency exchange is needed
