Stockholm is Sweden's capital, spread across 14 islands beside the Baltic Sea. The medieval old town (Gamla Stan), the Royal Palace and modern Scandinavian design make it one of northern Europe's most beautiful destinations. Here's how to reach Stockholm from Tbilisi.
Getting there from Tbilisi
There is no regular direct flight from Tbilisi to Stockholm — you travel with a connection via Istanbul, Vienna or Warsaw. Total travel time including the layover is 7-11 hours.
Stockholm is served by several airports: Arlanda (ARN), the main one 40 km from the center, and Skavsta (NYO) for low-cost flights. Seasonally, Wizz Air also flies to northern Europe from Kutaisi — check the current routes.
Prices and best dates
A one-way ticket starts at around $320. The cheapest months are November-March (except holidays), while June-August is the most expensive, when Scandinavia has its white nights and peak season. Compare prices on the calendar.
A Schengen visa is required
Sweden is part of the Schengen area, so Georgian citizens need a Schengen visa. A type C tourist visa allows up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
Prepare your documents at least 4-6 weeks ahead and don't forget travel insurance with at least €30,000 coverage — it's mandatory for a Schengen visa.
Sweden is not part of the eurozone — the currency is the Swedish krona (SEK). Card payments work everywhere, so you barely need cash.

Practical tips
You get around Stockholm by metro (Tunnelbana), bus and ferry — an SL travel card is the most convenient. From the airport to the center the Arlanda Express train takes 20 minutes. For transfers see the airport-to-city guide.
Stockholm is an expensive city — save on lunch with the set menu (dagens lunch) and use the free museum days. Plan flights and dates with Travel365's price calendar.
Summer in Stockholm brings white nights — daylight lasts almost 18 hours; winter is the opposite, with little light. Plan your visit accordingly.
