Europe's best beaches are closer to Tbilisi than you'd think — a few hours in the air and you're in the blue water of the Mediterranean or the Adriatic. From Spain's sandy coast to Cyprus's warm lagoons, this guide helps you choose where to go in summer, which city gets you to the beach easily, and what budget to plan for.
🇪🇸 The Spanish coast — Barcelona and Valencia
Barcelona blends a big city with city beaches (Barceloneta) — Gaudí in the morning, the sea in the afternoon. Valencia is calmer and cheaper, with the wide sandy Malvarrosa beach. Both are a direct or one-stop flight from Tbilisi.
When planning, see the Tbilisi → Barcelona guide and the Tbilisi → Valencia guide for flight times, visas and attractions.
🇭🇷 The Adriatic — Split and Dubrovnik
Croatia's coast is one of Europe's most beautiful: crystal-clear water, islands and historic towns. Split, with Diocletian's Palace and nearby islands (Hvar, Brač), is ideal for mixing beach and culture; Dubrovnik is famous for its old town and sea views.
For routes see the Tbilisi → Split guide and the Tbilisi → Dubrovnik guide. Croatia is in the Schengen area — mind the 90/180-day rule.
🇬🇷🇨🇾 Greece and Cyprus — Athens, Thessaloniki, Larnaca
- Athens: city sights plus the Athens Riviera beaches — see the Tbilisi → Athens guide
- Thessaloniki: the gateway to the Halkidiki peninsula's beaches — see the Tbilisi → Thessaloniki guide
- Larnaca (Cyprus): warm sea into October, often a direct flight — see the Tbilisi → Larnaca guide
- Cyprus is handy for late season — in September-October the water is still warm
🇹🇷 The Turkish Riviera — Antalya
Antalya is a classic summer destination for travelers from Georgia: frequent, cheap direct flights, all-inclusive hotels and a long coastline. For a family holiday the value for money is often better than in Europe.
Details in the Tbilisi → Antalya guide. Turkey isn't in Schengen, so it doesn't eat into your 90/180 limit — a good option if you've spent your Europe days.
🗓️ When to go and how to save
Peak (July-August) is the hottest and most expensive. June and September are the sweet spot: warm sea, fewer people and lower prices. This principle is covered in detail in the shoulder season guide.
Budget: an economy option runs about $450-750 a week (flight plus hotel), all-inclusive more. Flight prices to coastal cities depend on the day — compare them on the Travel365 price calendar.
Get an eSIM in advance for internet, and travel insurance is a must for a seaside trip — water sports and injuries often happen right on the beach.
