A pre-flight checklist is one of the most practical tools for every traveller. Skipping online check-in, travelling on an expired passport or exceeding your baggage allowance can all result in fines or a missed flight. These 10 steps will help you arrive at the gate relaxed and fully prepared.
72 hours before: baggage and booking
Baggage rules vary by airline. On Wizz Air and Ryanair, the main cabin bag is often a paid extra — check the airline's website before your trip and add baggage online if needed.
Also check your email: airlines sometimes change schedules without much notice. Your booking details on Travel365 are a useful reference.
- Baggage allowance: verify size and weight limits on the airline's site
- Add checked baggage online — always cheaper than paying at the airport counter
- Passport: valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel date
- Visa or e-Visa/ETIAS confirmation document
24 hours before: online check-in
Online check-in lets you choose your seat, go straight to baggage drop-off and receive your boarding pass by email. Most airlines open online check-in 24-48 hours before departure.
With low-cost carriers (Wizz Air, Ryanair), missing online check-in means a €50-80 counter fee — one of the easiest costs to avoid.
Save your boarding pass offline on your phone — you'll need it without Wi-Fi. Print a paper copy as a backup.
Essential documents checklist
- Passport or ID card (check which document is accepted at your destination)
- Visa / e-Visa / ETIAS authorisation (required from second half of 2026)
- Travel insurance — mandatory for Schengen; strongly recommended everywhere else
- Hotel or Airbnb booking confirmation
- Bank card and local currency of your destination
- eSIM or local SIM card — for internet access immediately on arrival
On the day: getting to the airport
For international flights, arrive 2-3 hours before departure. Wizz Air and Ryanair close their gates 30-40 minutes before take-off — being late means losing your flight.
Allow for traffic. From central Tbilisi to TBS airport, a Bolt or taxi typically takes 25-35 minutes. Kutaisi airport (KUT) is 30 km from the city — budget at least 45 minutes.
Security screening: what to remember
- Liquids over 100 ml — not allowed in hand luggage; checked baggage only
- Laptop and tablet — remove from your bag before the X-ray scanner
- E-cigarettes — allowed in hand luggage only (banned in hold baggage)
- Metal items, belt, watch — empty your pockets before the security archway
- Cosmetics and creams — under 100 ml each, in a clear resealable bag
