🚖 Fixed-tariff taxi
FCO to Rome center is a fixed €50 (~$55) fare for destinations inside the Aurelian Walls (Vatican, Termini, Trastevere, Spagna, Colosseum). Same price day or night.
The fixed fare should be posted in the cab window — if a driver pushes another price, walk away.
Touts inside the FCO arrivals hall are common — often unlicensed, charging €100-150 (~$110-165). Use the official rank outside — white taxis with 'Comune di Roma' branding.
📱 Bolt / Free Now / Uber
Bolt is active in central-northern Italy — Rome to the center runs $47-64. Free Now (formerly myTaxi) hails official taxis — slightly above the fixed €50. Uber Rome is limo class only (Black/Lux).
Pickup zone: Terminal 1/3 arrivals exit, Pier P.
💡 Tips
- Get the Trenitalia app on arrival — much easier, no validation needed
- Pickpockets at Termini are a known issue — keep bags close
- For late-night arrivals (after 22:35 when Leonardo Express ends) — TAM Night Bus or Bolt
- Roma Pass 48/72 h — full city transit + 2 attractions; worth it for 2+ day stays
