Nice Côte d'Azur airport (NCE) is France's third-busiest airport and sits just 7 km from the city center, right on the seafront. Options to downtown: tram T2 — ~$1.90 (€1.70), ~25 min; taxi or Uber/Bolt — 15-25 min, ~$28-50. In almost every case, T2 is the best choice.
🚊 Options to the city center
- Tram T2 → Jean Médecin / Garibaldi (center): ~20-25 min, ~$1.90 (€1.70)
- Tram T2 → Port Lympia (last stop): ~30 min, ~$1.90
- Uber / Bolt: 15-25 min, ~$28-42 (€25-38)
- Official taxi (fixed fare): ~$35-50 (€32-45)
- Train to Nice-Ville: take T2 to Nice Saint-Augustin station, then a TER
🚊 Tram T2 — the best choice
Tram line T2 links both terminals (T1 and T2) directly to the city center and the port. The stops are right at the terminal exits, and the tram runs every 5-8 minutes during the day. It's ~20-25 minutes to the center (Jean Médecin) — fast, comfortable and independent of traffic.
A ticket costs the same on any route — a single is ~$1.90 (€1.70). Buy it from the machine at the stop (card or cash) or just tap a contactless bank card on the validator. The ticket is valid for transfers for 74 minutes.
- Ticket: ~$1.90 (€1.70) — from a machine or by contactless card
- T2 runs roughly 04:30 to 00:30
- There's space for luggage, and it's less crowded heading toward the airport
If you're staying a few days, buy a multi or 10-trip ticket — the per-ride price drops and you'll use it around the city too.
🚖 Taxis and apps
Taxis from NCE run on a fixed fare — about $35-50 (€32-45) to central Nice, slightly more in the evening, on Sundays and holidays. The rank is at the terminal exit. Uber and Bolt both operate in Nice and are usually a little cheaper — around $28-42 (€25-38).
A taxi makes sense if you have lots of luggage or are in a group — split between 3-4 people the price approaches T2. Direct transfers to Monaco and other resorts also leave from here.
Don't follow anyone offering 'Taxi?' inside the terminal — only take a licensed taxi from the official rank, where the fare is fixed.
🌙 Late-night arrivals
If you land outside T2's hours (roughly 00:30-04:30), the tram isn't running — Uber, Bolt or an official taxi are your options. The night rate is a little higher, but the center is close and the trip takes just 15-20 minutes.
For saving on a night flight see the red-eye flights guide — often it's the late arrival that makes the ticket cheap.
