Nicosia is Cyprus's capital and Europe's only divided one — a border runs straight through the heart of the old town, while the Venetian walls have kept their star-shaped outline since the 16th century. History, markets and a lived-in old town make Nicosia a compelling addition to a Cyprus trip beyond the beaches.
✈️ Flight options
Nicosia has no working airport of its own — the old one has been closed since 1974. The nearest gateway is Cyprus's main airport:
- Wizz Air — via Larnaca (LCA), seasonal direct or with one connection; from Larnaca it's about 45 minutes to Nicosia by car or bus
- Via Paphos (PFO) — see the Tbilisi to Paphos guide, then about 1.5 hours by bus or taxi
- Via Athens (ATH) — with Aegean Airlines, several times a week
💰 Price and season
A one-way ticket to Larnaca, plus the transfer to Nicosia, starts around $95.
- Best season: April-May and October — 22-27°C, ideal for walking the historic center
- Summer (June-August): 35-38°C — Nicosia is inland, away from the sea breeze, and the heat is intense
- Winter: mild, 14-17°C, with some rain expected
🛂 Visa
Cyprus is an EU member but not yet part of the Schengen area. Georgian citizens with a biometric passport can generally enter visa-free for a short stay — confirm the current rules with an official source before booking.

Nicosia's center is walkable, but a car helps for side trips to other cities — see the car rental guide. Search flights on Travel365's price calendar.
