🚌 Airport bus H1 — the cheapest option
The state-run H1 bus connects the airport to the city center, near the 28 May metro station.
- Price: about 1.3-1.5 AZN (≈$0.75-0.90), payable only with a BakıKart card — cash isn't accepted on board
- You can buy a BakıKart at an airport kiosk or vending machine right after landing
- The ride to the center takes about 45-60 minutes depending on traffic
- Buses run frequently around the clock, with longer gaps late at night
🚕 Taxi and Bolt
An official taxi to the center costs about 25-35 AZN (≈$15-20) and takes 30-40 minutes. Bolt is widely used in Azerbaijan and often cheaper than an official taxi — the fare is locked in through the app in advance, so there's no need to negotiate.
Avoid unofficial drivers who approach you inside the terminal — they often quote a much higher price. Use the official taxi queue outside, or book through Bolt instead.
🚗 Private transfer
If you're arriving on a late-night flight or traveling as a group, a pre-booked private transfer is a comfortable, fixed-price option — a driver meets you by name right after you land.
