Charles de Gaulle (CDG) — France's biggest airport — is 35 km from the city. Options: RER B (cheapest and often quickest), Roissybus express (to Opéra), city bus 350/351 (budget), and fixed-tariff taxis. Word of warning: CDG often jams up — leave the center an hour earlier than feels necessary for your flight.
🚇 Ways into the center
- RER B train → Gare du Nord / Châtelet-Les Halles: 35-50 min, $13 (€11.80)
- Roissybus → Opéra: 60-75 min, $18 (€16.20)
- Bus 350 → Gare du Nord / Gare de l'Est: 70-90 min, $3 (€2.50)
- Bus 351 → Nation: 70-90 min, $3 (€2.50)

🚆 RER B — best value
RER B is the regional rail line linking CDG to Châtelet-Les Halles (the center). Every 10-15 min, running 04:50-23:50.
Stations: CDG → Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 1 (T1, T3) or Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 - TGV (T2). Free CDGVAL monorail (3-5 min) connects the terminals.
- To Gare du Nord: 35 min — also the Eurostar station
- To Châtelet-Les Halles: 40 min — the central interchange
- To Saint-Michel Notre-Dame: 45 min — Île de la Cité
Pickpockets on RER B are a known issue. Keep bags close, valuables in inner pockets — especially leaving Gare du Nord.
🚌 Roissybus — direct to Opéra
Roissybus is the RATP express — CDG to Opéra without changing. Every 15-20 min; 06:00-00:30. With no transfers it's 60-75 min, up to 90 in traffic.
- Ticket: Roissybus $18 (€16.20)
- Or use a Navigo Easy card (Zone 1-5)
- Stops at Opéra Garnier — central Paris
🚌 Bus 350 / 351 — budget
350 and 351 are regular city buses with a single Métro/Bus ticket ($3). Slow, but a quarter of the Roissybus price.
- Bus 350 → Gare de l'Est / Gare du Nord: 70-90 min
- Bus 351 → Nation: 70-90 min
- Payment: Métro Ticket t+ $3 (€2.50)
🚖 Fixed-tariff taxi
A fixed tariff between CDG and central Paris protects you. Right Bank (Rive Droite) $60 (€55), Left Bank (Rive Gauche) $69 (€62). No night surcharge — these are 24/7 fixed prices.
Don't accept 'Taxi?' offers in the CDG arrivals hall — these are unlicensed touts charging 2-3x the official rate. Use the official rank outside.
📱 Bolt and Uber
Uber is popular at CDG — $50-72, more in traffic. Bolt shut down rideshare in Paris (Bolt Drive is the leftover car-sharing arm). FREE NOW has a small footprint.
Pickup zone: Terminal 1 — Level 30, briefing 28; Terminal 2 — Door 2 / Door 7.
💡 Tips
- Navigo Easy card ~$3 — top it up and one card covers RER B + Roissybus + Métro
- Pickpockets are the biggest RER B issue — keep bags close, ignore 'help' from strangers
- For late-night flights — Noctilien N143 (CDG → Châtelet) runs once an hour
- ETIAS — pre-flight online authorization required from H2 2026
